This class will cover the last half of Razavi's Design of Analog CMOS Integrated Circuits book (noise, linearity, oscillator, PLL). Since professor Gu just repeated exactly everything (include example) in the book, it's quite boring to sit in the class.

If you're reading this and thinking about taking her ENG-100 class, DO NOT!!She only goes over the lectures at surface level, and now that I've retaken the class with Professor Rashtian, she leaves out important information in certain topics regarding Op-amps .Do yourself and GPA a favor and wait till you can take it with Dr. Rashtian!!!

Lectures did not align with homework most of the time. Midterms and final were fair in my opinion. Textbooks don't really help either. I recommend TA office hours and cross checking with others on the hw. I would go to lecture to listen to the prof talk about notes. No curve at the end I guess! Lack of communication for grades!

Useless lectures that don't help for HW, apathetic TA who made labs unnecessarily harder, no prep for exams & no curve. Prof doesn't care about teaching or the students, seeing how she was always late to class, always had technical issues, always left early and never showed up for exams. What an awful time. IDK why circuit professors are like this.

I learned entirely through a tutor. She can't lecture at all, she uses another professors slides and somehow failed to convey the material well, meaning she had no understanding of the material she doesn't teach. She showed no mercy to students, including zero curve when the midterm average was around a 60%. I am glad I am out of this class.

meangless lectures, just circles another instructors notes. No curve, some quarters get extra credit and some dont, will not tell you whats covered on the midterm or final and grades homework very harshly and its only worth 5% of your grade. Labs are poorly put together, and requires much more effort than the listed 3 units. Stay away from Gu...

She just projects another professors class notes onto the boards and scrolls down while reading them. Gives you two minutes to "solve" the problems in said notes. I didn't think the labs were as horrible like i've seen other people said. But overall if you can avoid Gu i would especially if this isn't the end of your circuits classes

reads another professors notes word for word w/out elaborating on the material. Lectures consist of her randomly circling notes. Grading standards are ridiculously strict where is no partial credit given. shows up late and unprepared for the already short lecture time. She uses multiple textbooks where most are not accessible via equitible access.

It is hard to say whether Gu is overqualified or underqualified to teach this class. She is clearly knowledgeable about the material, but doesn't care in the slightest about teaching the class. All lecture notes, homeworks, labs, and exams were borrowed from another professor, which she just talked over. She forgot about holidays and fell behind.

Very good professor. The material may seem hard at first but homework questions help you understand the material very well. You will need to solve a lot of calculation questions but they are not terrible. Overall, good class with a good professor. Definitely recommend attending class and doing homework questions to get a good grade.

Straight forward class. Takes much material from the book but she handholds you through the material which definitely helps. Very accessible during and outside of lecturer. Lecture may be dull. Homework straight forward. Online course required a cam for proctoring purposes. 2 fun projects that are also straight forward. Enjoyable course/professor.

I would say Gu is an excellent professor. Presentations are easy to comprehend, and she explains the question patiently during the class and the OF. Plus, the textbook helps understand the material. Lastly, exams are easier than homework. You can do well if you spend time studying homework and read textbook since exams take a large portion.

The grade breakdown was terrible: 45% midterm, 50% final, only 5% hw. Nightmare for terrible test-takers, especially since university discouraged profs from giving exams during remote instruction in a pandemic. Only the TA cared and gave recorded review sessions. Boring, hard class. Gu is knowledgeable, but the experience was one of the worst ever.

She is undoubtedly very knowledgeable about the material. However, her method of teaching was very unintuitive for me as she would not explain how or why values are assumed in BJT circuits. She would also make hostile replies to students who didnt understand and asked her. She also ordered students to keep their heads down if they didnt get it.

Good professor, usually teaches from per-made lecture slides. 1 midterm, 1 final, 3 quizzes. All based on HW. You can forget using other professors notes as you will have to rely on the textbook to pass. Grading is fair. I found her to be a solid choice.

Lectures are straightforward. Her explanation might not be the best, but usually sufficient. It's not a difficult class and the grading is a bit unfair. Makes you memorize a lot of equations and designs of components since the equation sheet given is almost useless. She only reads out the lecture notes in her lecture.

Although the homework is only 5% of the grade, it really prepares you for the quizzes and exams. She cares about teaching important skills, however I think she went a little fast during lectures. If you do the homework (actually try to solve it instead of chegg) and read the textbook, getting an A should not be an issue. Not a class you can cram.

Tough class. but with ANY professor, its going to be tough because of the material. Do the homework & go to lecture & you will be fine. i dedicated multiple hrs a week to study. About half the class never showed up & I think that is why our averages were low. I enjoyed her class & she had multiple office hours a week and even extra for finals
