Dagne Dover Hunter toiletry bag

How long I’ve been using it: Three months

Why I like it: I have been using a neoprene Dopp kit for a few years because the material is water resistant and stretches easily to fit all your products. My new one from Dagne Dover has a large main compartment for products and includes two smaller pouches that are easily removable to take back and forth to the bathroom (instead of the whole bag) or to pull out quickly for a security check at the airport. The top zipper also snaps down or expands depending on how much you pack, making the bag smaller or larger as needed.

What you’ll always find inside: Ialways pack the Aesop Parsley Seed facial cleanser,Malin & Goetz Sage styling cream, and the Marianella The Royal Kalahari face serum.

Tumi hanging travel kit

How long I’ve been using it:20 years

Why I like it:This is an insanely durable product. I got it as a gift when I started traveling a lot for one of my first jobs out of school, so it’s definitely gone on at least a few hundred trips all over the world with me at this point—everywhere from Africa to Alaska. I haven’t exactly been gentle with it, but it still pretty much looks like new. It’s not the fanciest bag, and it’s pretty industrial in design, but the ballistic nylon material it’s made out of is the real deal. It dries out really quickly when stuff inside spills out, and as an added bonus, it has an antimicrobial lining inside so your products don't become moldyor smell. The thought of getting a new bag hasn’t even ever crossed my mind—I feel like I could go another 20 years with this bag.

What you’ll always find inside:The bag has a great see-through mesh pocket on the inside of the flap where I always make sure to bring an extra pair of contact lenses every time I go away. You’ll also always find myDr. Grandel facial foam cleanser, because it’s really great at not stripping my face of moisture; my Iota Superplant body serum which is a super-healthy body moisturizer that isn’t as heavy-feeling as most lotions (that is essential for me otherwise my skin gets itchy); and myAesop Moroccan Neroli post-shave lotion which has a really nice scent and calms my face after shaving.

Louis Vuitton Toiletry Bag 25

How long I’ve been using it:About 15 years

Why you like it: Although I have four to five other Louis Vuitton Dopp kits, this one is my favorite because it’s the oldest and has so much character—most notably the beautiful patina that has formed on the Vachetta leather. It’s also slightly smaller than the others and therefore forces me to edit items down to only the essentials. And you can never go wrong with LV’s classic monogram. It’s elegant and timeless.

What you’ll always find inside:When I’m traveling, I like to maintain a simple yet effective skincare routine. La Mer Cleansing Foam,Creme de La Mer Moisturizer, andLa Mer Eye Concentrate always help get the job done.

Editor’s note: At the time of publication, this bag is out of stock. Similar styles available at Louis Vuitton include theDopp kit toilet pouch and theNice Mini toiletry pouch.

Il Bisonte men’s leather travel toiletry case

How long I’ve been using it:Three years

Why I like it:After a couple years of just using a Sabah shoe bag (a cotton drawstring bag) as my go-to Dopp kit, I finally splurged and bought a heavy-duty one from one of my favorite leather goods makers. It’s a great size, and more importantly, it tells the stories of my travels: The natural tan leather has gotten more beautiful and weathered with use. Patina, we call it in the leather biz.

What you’ll find inside:Lesse face oil andUrban Moonshine Immune Tonic—I take a bit of this everyday to keep the immune system up!

Bottega Veneta Intrecciato leather travel pouch

How long I’ve been using it: Five years

Why I like it: I love it for its craftsmanship and design: striking yet very minimalist. It’s also extremely convenient. I'm able to take everything necessary for a full day of back-to-back meetings in Paris or St. Tropez without feeling weighed down. Its versatility allows me to store any items from skincare and toiletries that help keep me looking refreshed throughout meetings to vital documents such as passport or wallet.

What you’ll always find inside:I always travel with the Luzern Laboratories Serum Absolut V15,Bevel 2-1 pomade for my hair, and Crest 3D white toothpaste.

DSPTCH Dopp Kit

How long I’ve been using it:Eight years

Why I like it:As organized as I think I am, I always used to find myself dumping my pocket contents throughout a hotel room. The valet tray makes it super easy to leave everything in one place and the removable design has been super handy—as I like to keep my essentials next to my phone while it charges on the nightstand.

What you’ll find inside:Inside I keep a travel-size Corpus deodorant,Muji atomizer,and the Baxter Styling Paste.

Sea Bags Blonde High Performance Sail toiletry bag

How long I’ve been using it: Four years

Why I like it: It's lightweight, indestructible, and made from used sails. Most importantly, it makes me feel like a rugged sailor even during vulnerable moments just before I apply face moisturizer.

What you’ll always find inside:Jackfir moisturizer (a good friend Charlie started this men's skincare line as a simple, toxin free option after navigating 3.5 years of leukemia treatment),Claus Porto Spiced Citrus Cologne (smells exceptionally good and doesn't break the bank), and Immodium (for emergencies only).

The Daily Edited clear travel case

How long I’ve been using it: About two years

Why I like it: I often don't check a bag when I travel, so having a transparent Dopp kit means I can get it through security easily. I love the two compartments: the wet side and the dry side. And the full zip-around makes it easy to get what I need quickly.

What you’ll always find inside:Le Labo The Noir 29,the Burly Crème, and floss—I can't emphasize enough how important it is to floss!

Rains Weekend wash bag

How long I’ve been using it: I’ve had this wash bag for a few years now.

Why I like it: The best thing about this wash bag is Rains’ signature waterproof fabric—it’s durable and therefore offers me peace of mind that all my stuff will be protected, dry, and leak-free. Plus, I’m intentional about my style choices—especially when I’m traveling—and the minimalist design of this bag complements how I typically dress.

What you’ll always find inside: Every morning wherever I am, I take a drop full ofHerb Pharm’s oregano spirits to build immunity. Themoisture renew cream from January Labs helps keep my face hydrated and glowy.

Bric's Firenze Tri-Fold Traveler

The Dopp Kit I use:Louis Vuitton Hanging Toiletry Kit

How long I’ve been using it: Approximately 5 years

Why I like it:I absolutely love the Louis Vuitton hanging toiletry kit. My partner gifted it to me as a wedding present, and it’s traveled with me around the world and is still holding up. It features a durable canvas coated finish that's easy to clean with plenty of space for toiletries. There’s also an easily accessible mesh pocket perfect for storing your toothbrush and toothpaste. The best part of this Dopp kit is the sleek metal hook that folds out so you can hang it from a towel bar or a hook, which is perfect for when you have no counter space. Once you’re ready to pack up for your next destination, the cover folds over and locks securely by a magnetic closure.

What you’ll always find inside:Kiehl’s Ultra facial cleanser,Lesse Ritual serum, and the Aesop Parsley Seed Anti-Oxidant Eye Cream.

Editor’s note: Louis Vuitton discontinued this product, but these two alternatives have a similar useful hook, too:Shinola Organized Travel Kit andBric’s Tri-Fold Traveler (pictured).

Tom Bihn Clear 3D Organizer

The Dopp Kit I use:Muji's TPU Clear Case with gusset

How long I've been using it: Two years

Why I like it: A few years ago, on a flight out of Paris' Orly airport, security made me move everything that was in my overstuffed leather Dopp kit into one Ziploc bag. I had to tearfully give up the items I couldn't squeeze in there. Since then, I've been on the hunt for a clear plastic wash bag. This one from Muji is inexpensive and compact, freeing up my carry-on for another pair of loafers.

What you’ll find inside:Farmacy Whipped Greens cleanser,Bask SPF 30 Lotion, and I don’t leave the house withoutMuji’s Refreshing Body Wipes.

Editor’s note: At the time of publication, this case is out of stock. But Tom Binh’sClear 3D Organizer Cube (pictured) is a nice alternative—still compact, still clear.

Herschel Chapter travel kit

This simple, unstructured toiletry kit is perfect for an unfussy traveler who’s cramming as much into their carry-on or backpack as possible. The soft shell allows it to be smushed into any crevice available without taking up too much room. It closes with a waterproof zipper, so anything that does spill or gets punctured in transit is at least safe within the bag and not all over your clothes.

WP Standard leather Dopp kit

Don’t let the worn leather look fool you, this Dopp kit is as sturdy as soft shell cases get. For any fragile grooming essentials kept inside, like cologne bottles or razor blades, this case’s thick leather outer keeps it all in form. There are also inner zip pockets for errant small items.

Mark & Graham Terminal 1 cosmetic case

For the traveler who needs absolute security (and plenty of space) for his toiletries, this case is big, roomy, and has a hard shell to keep any tube of cream or salve in place without getting crushed in transit. Measuring in at 11 inches by 8 inches by 8.5 inches, it takes up a solid block of space in one’s luggage (we'd stash it in a checked bag), but offers that much more protection for the things that are truly essential upon arrival. You can also customize it with an initial for a small fee.

L.L.Bean personal organizer toiletry bag

This hanging toiletry bag from L.L.Bean foregoes the prime real estate of the bathroom countertop and instead opts to make the most of vertical storage space. Hang this on the back of the bathroom door to fully lay out everything you might need without having to root around. When you’re ready to go back home, just fold it closed and zip it back up.
