This summer, Greater Fort Lauderdale is home to a plethora of brand-new eateries, cafés, events, and more, spanning from Coral Springs to Weston. In order to help you make this summer one to remember, Visit Lauderdale, the official destination marketing agency for Greater Fort Lauderdale, is thrilled to share “What’s New” in the area!

Entertainment & Sports

Fort Lauderdale United FC is the first professional women’s soccer team in Greater Fort Lauderdale. The United Soccer League Super League, which begins play in August, will feature this new elite women’s professional soccer team. The U.S. Soccer Federation recently granted the league Division One authorization, enabling them to play at the top level of professional soccer in the country. At Nova Southeastern University, the team’s practice and playing fields are located in the Town of Davie.

June will see the return of cricket at Lauderhill’s Broward County Stadium, the second most watched sport in the globe. There are 55 high-stakes matches in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, which are held in nine different cities worldwide. The worldwide competition will take place from June 1 through June 29. There will be the following games in Greater Fort Lauderdale: Sri Lanka takes on Nepal on Tuesday, June 11; the USA takes on Ireland on Friday, June 14; India takes on Canada on Saturday, June 15; and Pakistan takes on Ireland on Sunday, June 16. Inter Miami CF is aiming to enhance the fan experience by providing additional food and drink options at Chase Stadium. Now, soccer fans may have Sam’s Crispy Chicken and Umami Burger prior to, during, or following their viewing of the legendary Lionel Messi game. Smorgasburg, Coyo Taco, f*cku, Quimera, Doggi’s Arepa Bar, Poke OG, and Freddo Gelato are just a few of the popular concession stalls where you can get a bite to eat. The newly enlarged Fan Zone also features a rotating lineup of food trucks. Club members can enjoy free beer, wine, and canned drinks at several serving stations, as well as buffet-style meals prepared by guest chefs.

The Florida Panthers have formally unveiled the Baptist Health IcePlex at the War Memorial Auditorium in Holiday Park, their new practice facility located in downtown Fort Lauderdale. Two National Hockey League-caliber ice rinks are available at the $65 million facility, one for team practices only and the other for public skating, club hockey for adults and youngsters, and figure skating. The store has a wide range of figure and hockey skates for kids and adults if you don’t already have some. Admissions for public skating are restricted, and reservations are always needed. Nestled between the two ice rinks of the Baptist Health IcePlex, The Federal is a casual eating establishment with stunning views of the pickleball courts and ice rinks.

Don’t miss the Museum of Discovery and Science’s inaugural MAGNA-TILES® Studio if you’re traveling with children. From creating springtime bouquets to building skyscrapers, guests will learn about the limitless possibilities of MAGNA-TILES® creativity. The studio is intended to be an immersive learning environment where young brains can develop. The goal of the activities is to improve the early cognitive abilities of mathematics, hand-eye coordination, and fine motor skills. The new area is accessible during regular museum hours, which are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday through Saturday and 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

During your visit to the Bonnet House Museum & Gardens, include one more peaceful aspect. The historic home will feature “Yoga Flow on the Veranda – A Tropical Treat” beginning in June. Surrounded by one of Greater Fort Lauderdale’s natural treasures, the 75-minute vinyasa yoga practice is aimed to inspire and invigorate. Attendees are welcome to explore the Bonnet House Museum & Gardens’ tropical calm after class. It is required of guests to bring their own water, sunglasses, hand towel, and yoga mat. The following Fridays, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. (rain or shine), are when the lessons are held: June 7, July 12, September 6, October 4, and November 1.

The South Florida Adventure Pass allows you to explore more of what Greater Fort Lauderdale has to offer. From now until September 30th, four main attractions are available for a single fee. The cost of admission to Butterfly World, Flamingo Gardens, the Museum of Discovery and Science, and Sawgrass Recreation Park is $60 for adults and $50 for children aged three to twelve.

Dining

B&D Trap BBQ is your new go-to place if you’re wanting real Texas BBQ flavors and pit-to-plate hospitality. This Texas barbecue, which features juicy brisket and pork ribs, is well-known for its straightforward ingredients and slow cooking method over a wood fire. Prepare yourself for a delicious encounter because the flavor of meat increases with its fat content.

In April, J&C Oyster, a brand-new seafood restaurant with Asian influences in downtown Hollywood, debuted. Spread across 2,000 square feet, the open-kitchen area has dishes like togarashi-brined fried chicken, raw oysters with hot Thai chili sauce, and littleneck clams and French fries submerged in pools of sake. There are many meat options available if you’re not in the mood for seafood, such as steak tartare, roasted bone marrow topped with herbs, and Japanese sourdough milk bread with a miso flavor.

The 26th story of the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort is home to Fort Lauderdale Beach’s stunning new rooftop bar. In addition to its inventive menu inspired by the sky and sea, Nubé provides panoramic views. Enjoy elevated bar snacks and handmade beverages while floating over the skyline for a distinctive “lounge-aurant” experience. The rooftop features a wraparound glass deck with amazing views of the beach, as well as inside and outdoor seating possibilities.

Tacocraft has the support of restaurateurs Anthony Bruno, Pat Marzano, and Marc Falsetto in addition to influential investors like Dan Marino and radio host Paul Castronovo. The 200-seat eatery will serve as the focal point of Coral Springs’ upcoming City Village, a mixed-use retail complex that will take up two blocks along North University Drive. In addition to tacos, the menu also includes salads, fajitas, sandwiches with churro ice cream, margaritas, and co*cktails made with tequila.

The West End Lounge in the center of Wilton Manors, tucked away next to Tulio’s Tacos and Tequila Bar, offers a cool, opulent drink experience in the Greater Fort Lauderdale area. With an emphasis on natural ingredients and something for everyone, from traditional to ultramodern, the club seeks to revolutionize mixology. Drinks such as the West End Spritz, Brown Butter-Old Fashioned, and Strawberry Social will be available for guests to savor. Along with a varied selection of light meals, the West End Lounge occasionally hosts live music.

Transportation

Prepare to embark on an entirely new chapter of opulent waterfront living. According to projections, the Las Olas Marina will be the ideal, top-tier location for super yachts and thrill-seeking visitors and residents. Modern infrastructural upgrades, gourmet restaurants, boutique stores, 66 new floating docks (reserved exclusively for boats 80 feet and greater), and a verdant, pedestrian-friendly landscape are all included in the rebuilt marina. It is anticipated that the project will be finished this spring in time for the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in 2024.

A new airline has opened at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, enhancing the relationship between Greater Fort Lauderdale and the Middle East. Tel Aviv and Fort Lauderdale are now connected by two weekly flights operated by El Al Israel Airlines. There are 183 economy seats, 20 business class seats, and 35 premium economy seats on the aircraft.

Recently Remodeled Hotels

The greatest views of the ocean are seen at Ocean Sky Hotel & Resort, which is located along Fort Lauderdale Beach. The hotel has remodeled rooms that include 15 suites facing the ocean with newly constructed glass balconies that open to the outdoors. The owners of the brand are investing millions of dollars in the remodeling project, which will turn the 225-room resort on the ocean into a vibrant environment that can accommodate every kind of visitor.

The multi-million dollar makeover of Embassy Suites by Hilton Deerfield Beach Resort & Spa, which includes 244 newly designed two-room suites and contemporary renovations to its iconic restaurant and outdoor pool area, was recently unveiled. With a wide variety of frozen drinks, craft beers, and chilled wines, a new Blender Bar has been created. Additionally, there is a beach terrace that can accommodate over 230 visitors with a mix of 187 interior and 50 outdoor seats. The Deerfield Beach International Pier and the beach are both conveniently close to this motel.
