Airport Security Guide for Birmingham Airport (BHX)

Here are some tips to help you navigate security at Birmingham Airport (BHX). Security at Birmingham Airport is located on the first floor, accessible from both the North and South check-in areas. Please note, that while renovations to the upstairs security area take place, the security queue area is now on the ground floor. This could lead to longer wait times at security checkpoints and delays. Please consult with your airline to determine the best time to arrive at the airport.

Advice on carrying liquids through security:

Only liquids, pastes, and gels in containers up to 100ml can be carried in hand luggage.

Containers larger than 100ml must be placed in checked luggage.

Items exceeding the 100ml limit will be removed and destroyed.

There is no restriction on the number of containers under 100ml that can be carried.

Containers with a capacity greater than 100ml, such as insulated bottles, are allowed but must be completely empty.

Do not place your liquids, pastes, and gels in plastic bags; leave them loose in your hand luggage.

Do not remove these items from your hand luggage when in the security search area.

You may carry sufficient baby food for the journey to your destination.

Hand luggage dimensions must not exceed 56cm in length, 45cm in width, and 25cm in height. After passing through security, if you need to return landside for any reason, the UK Border Force requires you to undergo the security process again to re-enter the departure lounge.
