Joe Marler is set to hang up his boots as a professional rugby player by the end of the season, according to a new report. The prop already confirmed he was stepping away from the international game following the World Cup in France, which was his third crack at the tournament in England. His country went on to finish third and land the bronze medal but Marler played no part in the Friday night win over Argentina in Paris. While Marler’s career is set to continue for the moment, his full retirement is only a few short months away. According to RugbyPass, the 33-year-old is set to hang up his boots for good following the conclusion of the English Premiership season next year. The Harlequins is known for his personality away from the pitch and has already established a media career for himself ahead of retirement. Marler has picked up 89 caps for England despite stepping away from international Test duty on more than one occassion. The three-time Six Nations winner first announced his international retirement in September 2018 in order to spend more time with his family. His exile was brief as Marler returned in time for the 2019 World Cup in Japan, with England going on to finish second. Marler brought the curtain down again on his international career before donning the white jersey once again for the 2023 edition of the World Cup. The front-row forward has spent his entire club career with Harlequins; making his senior debut in 2009 before earning his first caps for England in the 2012 summer series against South Africa.
